Emily Schultheiss photo Emily E. Schultheiss founded Thriving Systems in 1996 to provide executive coaching, leadership consulting and keynote speaker services to major corporations and other organizations in need. Emily has over 26 years of experience in manufacturing, human resources, organizational development, leadership training, and executive coaching. She has consulted internationally in the areas of strategy development, change implementation, organizational structure, and leadership effectiveness.

Emily began her career in manufacturing with Westinghouse in Oklahoma, working by day as a supervisor during a plant start-up, and at night designing and delivering training to potential manufacturing employees. Her Westinghouse career took her through a variety of human resources generalist and management positions. She directed the corporate training and development function from 1983 until she left in 1995. She successfully managed groups in a variety of situations, including start-up, close-down, rapid growth, re-engineering, and divestiture. She has worked as a "coach" to help other managers with the organizational aspects of turbulent situations. She has worked with organizations both here and abroad developing self-directed work teams at the operations level, and with senior staff teams at the executive level who faced new business directions requiring changes in their leadership styles or their organizational culture.

Following her departure from Westinghouse, Emily served for over a year as vice president and partner in Impact Strategy Associates, Inc., before leaving to pursue projects as an independent consultant.

Emily authored the first practical manual on the application of socio-technical systems theory to organizational structure (Optimizing the Organization: How to Link People and Technology, Ballinger, 1988). In addition, she has published in the field of organizational effectiveness, organizational behavior, and management education in the Journal of Change Management, the Organizational Behavior Teaching Review, the Journal of Management, and the Journal of Management Education.

Emily holds a BBA in management from the University of Oklahoma, where she has served as a distinguished lecturer, and an MS in Human Resources Development from LaRoche College, where she has served as adjunct faculty in the graduate program. She also serves as adjunct faculty at Robert Morris College. Emily is certified as a "Bridgebuilder" to work with church congregations who are anxious.
